Milan
The panoramic train takes you to Milan in a comfortable journey time of one hour and twenty minutes, and also saves you from having to spend time looking for a parking space. However, the city, which is located to the south of Colico, is also within easy reach by car. Milan, with its museums, opera houses and theatres, as well as the Dome and the oldest covered shopping arcade in the world, the 19th-century “Galeria Vittorio Emanuele II” offers an excellent range of cultural and leisure options all year round.

Destinations on the Lake Como
If you have the time, you can circumnavigate Lake Como by following the road that runs along the shores of the lake. Closer destinations can be found via the local road to Chiavenna and Sondrio, with plenty of shopping options and much more. Lake Lugano and Lake Maggiore can be reach via the north-western bank of the lake. Almost all destinations around Lake Como can also be reached by scheduled boat trips.

However, the area immediately surrounding Colico has plenty of highlights of its own. The Bay of Piona, to the south of Colico, can be reached via a long walk that allows you to hike around the like or, if you prefer, experience the panoramic views of the lake and mountains fully from the gently sloping shores.
In Gera Lario, there is a water skiing school, which can easily be reached by car or bike.

Once you’re in Gera Lario, you can go diving at the river mouth, while Termezzo is home to a diving school, while experienced divers can dive down to a shipwreck that is located at a depth of 20 metres.

Discover the landscape in winter

In winter, the option exists to take a day trip to renowned winter sports locations including St. Moritz, Corvatsch (with a downhill ski run of 3,303 m), Madesimo (50 km), Aprica or Bormio to the north of Colico. Many Alpine ski resorts are easily reachable within a drive of an hour to an hour and a half.
